NIKKI - MALAYSIAN RISING SINGER
Nicolette Louisa Palikat, better known as "Nikki", is a Malaysian singer from Tambunan, Sabah. Her surname means "blocks" in Finnish. While a university student, she successfully auditioned for Malaysian Idol in Kuching, Sarawak, and progressed through to the 'Final 12.' After six weeks in the competition, Nikki was voted out on September 11, 2004 to some controversy, as she had been seen as a favourite to win by Malaysian Idol judge, Paul Moss.
Originally planning to continue with her studies after her exit from the competition, Nikki has since secured a recording contract with Artistes United Records, a sister company of Ning & Associates label and released her debut album, Nikki - Maharani, in Malaysia on November 28, 2005. The title means 'Empress' in Malay. Her first single that hits the local radio station is PINTA, a very powerful ballad that shows her talent well.
Nikki possesses the ability to sing in the whistle register; displaying this technique throughout Malaysian Idol, particularly in "Emotions" by Mariah Carey which she sang in her first audition and the result show of the grand finale.

with the unusual and superb sound,music and songs in her first baby,added with the greatest voice that i ever heard and never ever had in malaysia,i thought she does made the album one of the best choice with da quality and strength within...she is da future female top singer....i proud to be here and owez stay behind her to support her strives...gogogogo nikki..... | |

hu's that idayu btw? is she a malaysian too. if she could do whistle just like how mariah could, well yeah i think she's good. although i support nina bcoz she's a filipino, still i don't she's an expert whistle diva. look, she can't whistle today. but as i've said, her voice still sounds good. but with nikki, uh... i9 dunno. i really don't think she's great. sori. | |

sher..for me, MC is better..just to inform you that to compare Nina with Nikki..i will choose Nikki..but to compare Nikki with MC..of course i'll pick MC..she's a brilliant whistling singer..i think, i've never heard in Asia who can do whistle, better than Idayu..so far, i've only heard Idayu hits C7 (she can go higher coz she doesn't look strained when hitting C7) ..lower than MC..but i can say (in my opinion)..she's the only singer who can use that whistle brilliantly in singing..same technique like Mariah.. | |

tina, that's true. nina is the best whistling sing er in the Phil. too bad she can't whistle anymore. still, she can hit high notes using her chest voice.
uh... sori but i don't think nikki's whistle is good. i heard her sang emotions by mc and it's lower than mc's. and it sounds likie she's not an expert in whistling. | |

it's not how high Nina can reach..for me, Nikki's whistle sounds better..it's very pleasant to my ears..she never struggles while using this technique in LIVE performance..Idayu as well...and THEY ALWAYS USE IT IN LIVE PERFORMANCE..THAT'S WHY WE CALL THEM "WHISTLING SINGERS"
Anyway, i love to listen Nina's song too..but so far, i've never listened her whistle in LIVE performance..I've heard Rachelle Ann Go did whistle in Never Too Far..but it sounds horrible..i know she can whistle..but what I can say now, Nina and Lani are the best whistling singers in Filipino so far.. | |

Uhm excuse me, filipino singers are not junks, they're just too westernized so that asian music could not relate at all to their music!!! Don't bring down filipino singers. tina..i think..nikki hits an E6 in whistle register..and i believe that she can reach E7..but, i have no idea with her full voice notes..
by the way, nikki is dramatic
